Norfolk Key Worker Wedding Giveaway winners announcement

Back in April, a group of wedding suppliers led by Amelia at Capture Lounge grouped together to give something back to key workers. Covid-19 has affected so many people and changed the way we live, work and see our friends and family. Despite this, Key Workers all across Norfolk have been working tirelessly to keep food on the shelves, keep our lives safe and help us to get better if we get ill.

We launched a competition on the 14th May inviting engaged couples who live in Norfolk and are key workers to WIN their dream wedding. We totted up the numbers and it is valued over £30K, with amazing suppliers:

After over 600 entries, we narrowed it down and chose our winners - Richard who is a Fireman and Elyssa who is a nurse at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Elyssa is due their second child soon and although they had both contracted Covid-19, as they had recovered, were back on the frontline.

After deciding, we hasty organised a surprise announcement at the fire station Richard works from. We said to the couple that they had been selected as a ‘Top 10’ finalist and they were to be interviewed as part of the competition.

What they didn't know is that we had arranged for everyone including friends and family to meet us at the fire station before they arrived, giving us time to set up balloons, cakes, confetti, and we were joined by the local news tv crew (ITV Anglia) and local newspaper (Eastern Daily Press).

Fast forward to 12pm, and Richard and Elyssa arrive with no clue what’s going on and quite a bit of media pointing cameras at them. They hugged, kissed and faced the cameras, reading pre-made cards asking them to say that they are key workers and finalists. Behind them though, a big celebration awaited.

Cue a new card, and the penny drops. Elyssa looked thrilled and the roller door of the fire station lifts to reveal all the suppliers, their friends and family, and an explosion of confetti cannons!

I'm super happy to have been part of this, and it feels great to be able to give back to a couple who have worked extremely hard to support the community during these difficult times.⁣ It was amazing to be there and see them pronounced the winners - Such a deserving couple, we can’t wait to plan your wedding 🎉🎉🎉🎉
